Meeting with Asia

After showing Asia our 3 concepts that Katherine and I came up with we decided to gather some feedback from Asia to see what route she was looking for us to go down. She liked the idea of representing Cuba through the long and elongated shape through the rectangular shape.

We asked Asia in the meeting what stock she has in mind and if she was wanting photo paper etc, regarding this she didn't really have any particular one in mind and that she thought we would know better than her but she said when it comes to the printing process she will come with us just to double check.

Asia then showed us a book that she loved and wanted her layout and format to be produced similar to it. Katherine and I thought it was an interesting layout, and decided that it would be a good challenge for both of us as we have not done one like this before.

The book she showed is called 'SCROLL' By Jasper Jones. Artist Jasper Jones’ ‘Scroll’ probes the ‘contours’ of visual self-representation. In the work, the textual expression of his own identity is based on an aesthetic process that allows the subject to remain abstracted and lie low in the shadows while unceasingly reinventing the course of his personal timeline, both achronological and fragmented. The relationship between disclosure and concealment in Jones’ images follows the unassailable muddle of self-revelation and censorship often so typical to online identities.

Asia sent us her images at this stage as-well:
